Hello, I’m Bobbie Marek, President and Designer of Water’s Edge cross stitch and punch needle designs. More importantly, I’m David, Daniel, and Anastasia’s mom and grandmother to my goddaughter Jennifer’s son, Ryan.

I have always enjoyed drawing and painting and graduated college with a Graphic Arts degree. While my kids were young I had the ability to be a stay at home mom and started cross stitching as a way to relax after a long day of mothering. Somewhere in the mid-90’s I had an idea to design my own cross stitch patterns but was unsure how to start. After we moved to South Carolina, I had the opportunity to work at the Stitch and Frame Shop in Rock Hill. The staff of Stitch and Frame was helpful with hints, ideas, and contacts to help get my designs to the market place. 

Then in 2001, Jim Kornecki of Zweigart chose my “Liberty” design to be part of their patriotic afghan series. In 2002, I began attending Needlework markets and meeting with shop owners, who helped me understand what their customers liked and wanted. Eighty designs and a lot of learning experiences later, I’m still designing and having fun. 

My vision is to create cross stitch and punch needle patterns that are fun to stitch and that stitchers will want to display. I use a variety of fabric, threads, stitches, beads and embellishments to create a finished piece of art. I try to design pieces that both beginners and experienced stitchers can complete successfully and that will not be a life time project. My one thought that is inspiring and humbling at the same time is that my designs are being displayed in someone’s home.
